The Tri-County Sex
Offender Registry Task Force or TRI-SORT is based in Michigan's Capital city of Lansing. TRI-SORT is a proactive multi- jurisdictional
law enforcement investigative task force that is under the oversight of the Ingham & Eaton County Prosecutor's Offices.
The task force currently consists of 39 members from 25 different agencies within the law enforcement community.
The three county area of Ingham, Eaton, & Clinton Counties that surround Lansing is home to 1001 registered sex offenders,
618 of those are registered in Ingham County, which ranks 6th highest in the State of Michigan.
TRI-SORT's MISSION:
1) To collectively share investigative information on area sex offenders who are in violation of the Michigan Sex
Offender Registration Act and to take appropriate enforcement against those violators.
2) To identify and monitor
any predatorial type sex offenders in the tri-county area, in an effort to prevent any future criminal acts.
3)
To organize and carry out multi-agency area sex offender violator sweeps known as "OPERATION VERIFY".
4)
To serve as a single point of contact for citizens to provide tips and investigative information on area sex offender violators.
5) To provide investigative training to all area law enforcement personnel as it relates to sex offender violator
cases.
